How i got here,
in a nutshell...
Movement first entered my life through dance. I began training seriously well before high school and attended Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, trained with Houston Ballet, and spent my summers in intensive programs, dancing more than six hours a day.
Long before I knew phrases like mind-body connection or embodiment, dance taught me how to inhabit my body: to sense and direct each muscle and joint, notice how a thought or image could alter a movement, and allow music and story to move through me. It was rigorous, expressive, and a lifeline.
After earning my degree in Dance Performance from Chapman University, I spent almost a decade working in TV production. For a while, the only dancing I did was in the clubs with my friends.
Then, one day on a whim, I took a Pilates class after work instead of going to happy hour. The next week, I did the same. Slowly, a new pattern formed: I began choosing Pilates over happy hour more often. Overachiever me had always chosen to work late, but now I was leaving the office on time to make it to class. My boss was very confused :)
What initially drew me in wasn’t the biomechanics or precision, though I came to love both. It was moving and breathing again, reconnecting with my body, and noticing how much better I felt. I looked forward to class not only because of how I felt when I moved, but because I had fun with the instructors and other students.
It was like I had come home. And once I was there, I wanted to invite everyone over to play!
I began teacher training soon afterward and became a certified STOTT Pilates instructor in 2011. Since then, I’ve taught group classes and worked privately with clients, learning to see movement not only from inside my own body, but through the endlessly different ways other people inhabit and organize theirs.
Yoga entered my life around the same time as Pilates, but it remained a personal practice rather than something I wanted to teach. Becoming pregnant with my son in 2014 changed that and opened an entirely new path.
After giving birth, I became a little obsessed with all things birth and postpartum. Alongside Pilates, I began teaching prenatal yoga and childbirth education, hosting mom-and-me groups, and working in a pelvic-floor physical therapy practice. I also became a birth and Ayurvedic postpartum doula.
I have since supported more than 100 births and thousands of families through my classes and postpartum work. Birth work taught me how breath, mindset, touch, environment, language, a little bit of grit with flexibility, and, perhaps most importantly, that feeling truly supported can change how our life is experienced.

Over the years, I continued exploring meditation, energy and esoteric practices, the nervous system, and different ways of understanding the body. Chinese medicine felt like a natural progression: a way to bring health, movement, energy, and our relationship with the natural world into one coherent system. It gave me a richer framework for questions I had already been following, and I’m now pursuing my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at Yo San University.
Pilates is the medium through which I currently teach. What I bring to it is this wider way of seeing: a precise biomechanical eye, sensitivity to breath and the nervous system, respect for touch and intention, and a deep curiosity about the individual body in front of me.
